Technology Choices in Our Community

We sent report cards home electronically last week. The parents receive an email with a code and then log into a special section of our website. It provides us with a unique opportunity to get a complete snapshot of the technology our parents are using. These graphs were generated from our web server logs for the 48 hours following the emails being sent out. Only logs related to the the report card section of our website were used. This set should contain only our parents, and it should contain at least one entry for every family in the school. I filtered the logs so that only one unique IP address / log entry pair was used.

At 4% IE 6 usage we are unfortunately above the 2.9% national average. For those of you wondering, the “other” was comprised of “Opera” and an OS/browser describing itself as “SAMSUNG-SGH-A877″.

UPDATE: I didn’t originally account for Chrome which left its signature as “AppleWebKit/534.10 (KHTML like Gecko) Chrome/8.0.552.237 Safari/534.10″. My automated log reader got fooled by the AppleWebKit and Safari in there. Thanks to Shawn P. for pointing this out. Graphs have been updated.
